::Shufersal is expensive as always. Although there are discounts here and there. It is not clear why kosher products for Passover in such a limited selection. Improvement is needed.

::Although the store is sometimes so untidy I am tripping over cardboard boxes left lying about and barking my shins on errant trollies, this small local supermarket serving the Safed neighbourhoods of Ramat Razim, Menachem Begin and Neve Oranim has been a mainstay for my husband and myself for the past eleven years since we came on aliyah from England. A decade ago it provided only the most basic of foodstuffs - milk, a couple of kinds of bread, local cheeses, fruit and veg in season. The shop has now blossomed into a regular delicatessen full of delightful frozen and fresh surprises, not to mention kitchen ware and fine wines. The fact that the staff are the same familiar faces from years ago speaks volumes for their contentment under efficient new and innovative management. Smoked salmon? You've got it. Parmesan cheese? Ditto. Only please shift those boxes away! One caveat - I can't buy free range eggs here but have to go to Rosh Pina, 15 minutes drive down the mountain.
