Montefiore Windmill in Jerusalem

  This is a landmark in Jerusalem. It stands in the area if Yamin Moshe and looks out toward the old city. A splendid park are with flowers, fountains and walking paths. There is a short cut through the park to get to the old city either by Ma'alot Benny or by walking the path that winds around Mount Zion. Both are scenic. The winding path around the mountain is easier to walk and leads to the Dung Gate.

  The windmill itself is just that, a windmill. It really isn't that big of a deal but it's a historic place in Jerusalem in a lovely neighborhood. The surrounding homes were originally built to encourage people to live outside the walls of the old city. Apparently the homes were literally given away and people were paid to move in! The little alleyways are lovely. I recommend visiting here just to check out the cute little houses!

  One of the more prominent landmarks in the capital, the windmill is visible from multiple directions and audio information stations nearby offer a brief history lesson that puts the windmill into context. There is also a magnificent view of both the Old City and the Judean hills. A permanent exhibit showcases a reproduction of Montefiore's chariot.

  Nothing special. You canot get insaide the windmill. Wiewpltform are ok.
