::The Leo Baeck Institute is devoted to researching the history of German and Central European Jewry. It was founded in 1955 by a group of German Jews in Jerusalem. One of the founding members was the famous Jewish philosopher Martin Buber. It supports research and publication of works that reflect it's mission. Among the activities are academic conferences with international partners from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and North America. At least once a month during the academic year there are cultural evenings open to the general public. The Institute has a library and Archive available to researchers and the intellectually curious. The Archive is currently being digitized so that it will be accessible to users of the Internet. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 to 15:00.
