::Ethnic restaurant in the "Shuk". Tripolitan/Lybian cuisine meaning lots of beans, a not unsubstantial amount of cooking oil and hot tomato sauce prepared in many different ways; with okra and meat, with a slice of veal shank, etc... Specialties are Mafroum (Potato sliced in its length and stuffed with minced meat and spices served over couscous), Hraiymeh (Fish poached in hot tomato sauce) and P'kaila (confit of white beans in a thick sauce of swiss chard and other greens). For the brave, there are various sorts of offal, meats stewed or grilled over charcoal. Try the sweetbreads, barbeque flank or skirt steak or make your own selection and order a mixed grill (but enquire for prices first since meat on the grill is charged by weight). Not very generous servings. Limited selection of choices and no dessert and no coffee served whatsoever. Prices are far from being in accord with: a) the plebeian roots of the food that ends in your plate b) the very low cost of the humble raw materials. Service is indifferent, almost snooty. Still worth a trip as an exercise in ethnological investigation...

::Amazing slow cooked meal. Authentic home made food. The mafroum was delicious. Stuffed peppers highly recommended and the beans with meat were as good as my grandma's beans.

::הגענו ארבעה חברים מהעבודה, כיוון שאחד מאיתנו ביקש ארוחה עם תעודת כשרות. אני הזמנתי עיסקית עם מפרום חצילים וקוסקוס. המפרום טעים ועסיסי הבשר (בקר טחון) מבושל בדיוק במידה הנכונה. החצילים נמסים בפה. שישה סלטים שהוגשו לשולחן ברמה בסיסית, טחינה טעימה מאוד, על סלט הכרוב ניתן לוותר, הכל עם refill. המפרום הגיע עם צלחת קוסקוס ירקות נפרדת. שעת ההגעה 13:00 ביום ג', המסעדה הייתה בתפוסה של 80%. מלצרים נחמדים, זריזים ויעילים. בעלת הבית, אישה בשנות השישים מוודאת שהכל מתנהל כמו שצריך. חבר אחר הזמין פרגיות וצ'יפס, לא שמעתי תגובות מיוחדות, נראה שנהנה. מומלץ בחום לארוחת צהריים באמצע השבוע.
