  About 30 minutes from Jerusalem in modi'in a historical sight. I'd advise to go on a short hike on Sher Hill. Um El Umdan is a synagogue from the 2nd century BC. The name comes from the Hebrew word "עמוד" (amod) that means pole, and the synagogue has a few poles. Next to the synagogue there is a "mikvah" under ground. To get to the synagogue you need to park at a designated parking lot. From the parking lot you walk down the hill past a 2nd century house and foot wine press, and you're there.
