::So I went here to get my visa to visit Petra, as is now mandatory for some countries. First day was relatively smooth, though they charged us more than online resourced led us to believe it would be. Fine, whatever. Day two (when we could pick up our passports/visas) is where it got interesting. The man at the front desk demanded we present our ID before we would be allowed to reclaim our passports... our passports *are* our ID. No amount of discussion seemed to alter his imperative need that we present another passport to reclaim our passport. He called in the (heavily armed) security officer that had been at the entrance, in an attempt to get us to show him our "other" passport. Finally, by chance, we saw the man who had helped us the day before down a hallway and was able to get his attention, and eventually get it all sorted out. You already feel quite vulnerable handing over your passport while traveling abroad, but then to have armed security called on you and call into question whether or not you'll be getting your passport back at all, just for a day-trip to Petra... well. Lets just say Jordanian tourism isn't quite streamlined for the tourists they're trying to attract. Petra was A+ though, and I suppose I appreciated how few tourists were there. So I guess thats an upside. :D

::Rules have changed and its not clear how one can travel into Jordan. For some with the same passport; its 3hrs others its 24hrs. For me it was 2-3 weeks even after having gone through a consulate nearly a month prior to visiting this embassy.It's better to call them if they will answer to find out more about how one can get their visa.
