::The new guy who works the front gate is super super rude. Whoever runs this place needs to bring the Italian guy back. He was SO nice. My husband and I bring dozens of tourists here multiple times a month and are always allowed in for free as tour guides......and this “new guy” was so sooooo incredibly rude to us when we came today.

::Wonderful mountain view of the Israel Vally! The Muhraka Monastery is a Carmelite monastery which sits on top of the highest peak of the Carmel mountains. The Carmelite Order was established on Mount Carmel and is a Catholic religious order. Mount Carmel was the traditional home of the prophet Elijah who is the saint and patron of the Carmelite Order. A statue of Elijah adorns this well-kept monastery. Muhraka is actually Arabic and means "a place of burning," in reference to the story relayed in the Bible whereby a fire came down from heaven and burnt the prophet Elijah's offering when he battled the Ba'al prophets. The views from the monastery are simply incredible and on clear days one can even see as far as Mount Hermon! Open Hours: Sep-April Mon-Sat 8:00-12:00, 14:30-16:30, May-Nov Mon-Sat 8:00-12:00, 14:30-17:00, Sun Closed

::This is the real thing. To the best of our knowledge, this is the real place where prophet Elijah challenge the Baal prophets. The Monastery was built on the foundation of the Temple of Baal.
